August

Multnomah Days Join the Watershed Council for the annual Multnomah Days parad and street fair in downtown Multnomah Village! Throw the salmon through the culvert and learn how to help out Tryon Creek in your own backyard. Aug. 21 8 AM - 2 PM
Restoration Work Party @ Deer Creek We will be working with students from Lewis and Clark college to restore a piece of stream-side property on Deer Creek, a tributary of Tryon Creek. We will be removing viny clematis and ivy to make way for native plantings later in the year. The project site is located off of Taylors Ferry Rd. near SW 21st Ave. Address given at registration. September

Landscaping for Conservation workshop - Let Nature Work for You @ Tryon Creek State Park Nature Center Learn how your garden can function more like the natural system surrounding us. You will learn about your garden from the ground up – starting with the soil and its complex role supporting plants. You will also learn about gardening with native plants which use less water and don't require expensive fertilizers and pesticides. Everyone who attends will receive a gift certificate for a free plant. Tryon Creek Watershed, Portland and Lake Oswego residents will have the opportunity to receive a garden consultation. For adults This is a free program but enrollment is limited, pre-registration is requested. Register with stephanie@tryonfriends.org Sept. 19 1 PM - 4 PM

Annual Native Plant Sale @ SW Community Center at Gabriel Park (SW 45th and Vermont) Support your gardening habit and the restoration and protection of Tryon Creek at the same time! Fall is a great time to plant. We will offer a wide variety of native plants such as Sword Fern, Salal, and many others. Experts will be on hand to answer your plant selection questions. Restoration Work Party @ Rizwan Mosque (9925 SW 35th Dr.) Join SOLV with neighbors and other watershed enthusiasts to get your hands dirty removing invasive plants or planting native species at this creekside site in Tryon Creek’s upper watershed. See www.solv.org for more information. Oct. 2 9 AM - noon

Endangered Salmon Fundraiser @ Rock Bottom Brewery (downtown Portland SW 2nd and Morrison) Join the Watershed Council to enjoy the tapping of the specially made Endangered Salmon Brew. All pints are only $2 from 6-7 PM and all proceeds benefit endangered salmon recovery in Tryon Creek. Bring your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and enjoy! Oct. 21 6 PM - 7 PM

Tryon Creek Watershed Tour See salmon restoration projects, beautiful streamside forests with local experts on the Tryon Creek watershed tour. The tour highlights some of the watershed’s most prized natural areas and restoration projects being built to bring salmon back to Tryon Creek. Sites on the tour include private property that the public would not otherwise be able to access, and some of the best publicly owned areas you may not know about. The tour will be led by local experts from the Watershed Council who are knowledgeable and involved with many of the projects highlighted on the tour. FREE AND OPEN TO ALL!
